Kayak Rentals in Kyuquot

Our kayak fleet is leased each season from Comox Valley Kayaks. When not being used by us for our own kayak tours or instruction, our diverse fleet of new fiberglass singles and doubles is available for rental use.

Kayak staging area and storage

Some of the advantages of renting from us on Spring Island in Kyuquot, rather than renting elsewhere or bringing your own kayak to this remote area are:

• you can save at least 2 days of rental costs (travel days);
• you don't have the hassle and cost of transporting a kayak to and from this remote area, and can instead conveniently arrive by float plane;
• you won't damage your own boat while driving over the rough logging roads to Fair Harbour, or loading and unloading it from a water taxi or other boat;
• when you're done using it, we rinse, clean, and dry the gear - no salty sandy kayak and associated gear (PFD, skirt, paddle, pump, paddle float, throw bag) goes back in or on your car;
• if you're continuing to other vacation activities on northern Vancouver Island, you don't have to worry about the safety and security of having a kayak on your car roof (and the stinky wet gear inside).

We strongly suggest that you book your kayak early as availability may be limited.

When making your reservation, we will need confirmation that you are an experienced kayaker with basic training in wet exits, capsize recovery methods (self and assisted rescues), strokes, navigation, and safety communications.  If you are planning to rent and are new to kayaking, we will otherwise need assurance that you will always be paddling with someone more experienced who is taking responsibility for your on-water safety. The Kyuquot area is spectacular for kayaking, but also remote with rugged shorelines and often challenging weather and sea conditions. We require all kayak renters to read and sign a release of liability form.

Prices include paddles, pumps, throw ropes, paddle floats and of course PFD's. (PST and GST not included)
